Laser Levels for Shopfitting: One Datum, Several Trades

Shopfitting moves quickly. The useful thing a laser provides isn't a dramatic beam — it's a reference that several parts of the fit-out can relate back to.

Start with the project datum

Before setting your own reference, establish the project information you're working from. A laser can transfer that datum through the working area, but it doesn't decide what the datum should be.

Where the G4D fits

For retail units, joinery, shelving, counters, ceiling layouts and service positions, the G4D's four 360° planes can keep horizontal and vertical references available around more of the shell without constant repositioning.

Large floor plates

When the job becomes more about longer-distance level transfer than visible interior layout, a rotary laser and receiver can be the more appropriate system.

Check the component directly

Shelf bays, counters and cabinetry still benefit from direct checks with a spirit or digital level. A room datum and a contact measurement are not interchangeable.

Recheck after movement

Busy fit-out sites are exactly where tripods get knocked. If the laser or tripod has been moved or disturbed, verify the reference before relying on it again.
