Grettz G4D vs Bosch Professional 3×360 Lasers: Which Approach Suits You?

Bosch Professional has several 3×360 laser options, so there isn't one single “Bosch equivalent” to the G4D. The useful comparison is the design approach.

Bosch's 3×360 approach

Models such as the GLL 3-80 G project one horizontal and two vertical 360° green lines. Bosch specifies ±0.3mm/m accuracy and up to 120m working range with the optional LR 7 receiver on the GLL 3-80 G.

The newer GLL 80-33 G is also 3×360, specified at ±0.3mm/m, with IP65 protection, dual power from its 3.7V lithium-ion battery or four AA batteries, and compatibility with the LR 7 receiver.

Where Bosch has the advantage

Bosch offers an established professional measuring ecosystem, strong receiver capability and, on the GLL 80-33 G, IP65 protection plus battery flexibility. If ruggedness, Bosch system familiarity or its receiver ecosystem is your priority, those are substantial reasons to choose Bosch.

Where G4D differs

The G4D adds a second horizontal 360° plane, with the lower beam 9mm from the floor. That can simplify low-level tiling and cabinetry work. It also offers up to 18 hours runtime and USB-C charging.

Four planes does not mean more accurate

This matters. The G4D having four planes does not make it inherently more accurate than Bosch's three-plane systems. Plane count describes geometry; accuracy is a separate specification.

Which would we choose?

Priority Better fit
Low floor-level second horizontal plane Grettz G4D
Established Bosch measuring ecosystem Bosch
IP65 on current GLL 80-33 G Bosch
USB-C / long stated runtime Grettz G4D
Need only three 360° planes Either — compare the rest of the spec

The bottom line

Bosch makes serious professional laser equipment and there is no credibility in pretending otherwise. G4D's case is different: an extra low horizontal plane and a straightforward rechargeable workflow. Decide whether that fourth plane solves a recurring job for you; if it doesn't, Bosch's 3×360 format may be everything you need.
