Laser Levels for Curtain Poles: Useful or Overkill?

For one short curtain pole, a tape measure and spirit level may be all you need. A laser becomes more useful when you are aligning several brackets, multiple windows or a long reference across the room.
Start with the bracket positions
Measure the required height and offsets from the window or other reference. The laser can carry that line across the wall, but it does not decide the fixing position for you.
Cross-line is usually enough
A compact cross-line laser gives a horizontal reference for bracket height and a vertical reference where centres are useful. For this type of job, a G2D is normally a more natural format than a four-plane laser.
When a G4D helps
If you are fitting several windows around a room or the same project includes broader interior layout, 360° coverage can reduce repositioning. That is convenience rather than a requirement for curtain poles.
The bottom line
One pole: keep it simple. Repeated bracket heights or several openings: a cross-line laser can save marking and make the alignment visible before drilling.
